Bruce Roberts International — the original Bruce Roberts design office — began in 1968 in Queensland, Australia.

We remain based in Queensland, and in 2010 the company name was changed to Fine Line Boat Plans.

For over forty‑five years, the Bruce Roberts Group — with input from many designers, shipwrights, builders, and owners — has been producing detailed boat plans for sailboats and powerboats, with the DIY boat builder especially in mind. Our plans range from 5.8 m to 20 m and can be built in a wide variety of materials.

We offer designs for steel or aluminium construction in multichine, radius chine, or round bilge hull forms. Most plans are also available in fibreglass using c‑flex, foam sandwich, or single‑skin hull construction, as well as in cold‑moulded ply or strip plank using what is commonly known as wood‑epoxy boatbuilding. Thousands of Roberts designs have been built in backyards and successfully sailed around the world.

Our range of boat plans and designs includes the Roberts, Waverunner, Trader, Spray, Centennial Spray, Coastworker, New York, Adventurer, Tom Thumb, Henry Morgan, Offshore, PCF, Mauritius / Norfolk, Classic, Power Cat, Trawler Yacht, and the Longboat. Our archives contain nearly all the designs we have produced over the decades, so if you are restoring an older Roberts boat, it is very likely we still have the drawings you need.

The emphasis has always been on safety — and on giving builders the freedom to create the boat they truly want, not what a salesman tells them they need. Each Full Plan & Patterns set includes full‑size frame patterns, detailed construction drawings, and guidance on building your own tools, self‑steering vane, mast, trailers (for trailerable boats), and more.
